Training Department
To help maximise its employees’ skills base and build on already admirable safety practices, Stobart Rail has established a dedicated training centre at its Carlisle head office. This purpose-built, air conditioned, 150m sq facility manned by a highly qualified training team, boasts training rooms capable of accommodating up to 36 trainees at a time.
In addition to the training rooms, Stobart Rail operates a dedicated outdoor training area at Widnes. This facility comprises a 500m section of twin track railway. The only facility of its type in the north west of England, the training track features a 1:30 gradient, providing candidates with a feel for real working conditions and the safety issues that surround them.
The Stobart Rail Training Department provides quality instruction in both track safety duties and a variety of other essential rail and civils-related skills. These include the operation and supervision of on-track and construction plant. NVQ assessments in a broad range of traditional construction skills are also available.
