Southend Airport Raises More Than £700 For Local Charities

One of the hottest days of the year (Sunday 2 October) saw staff from London Southend Airport raising more than £700 for local good causes by holding a Fun Day.

The event was held at Rankins Cricket Club in Stambridge, which London Southend Airport sponsors.

Visitors enjoyed a Kwik Cricket Tournament, plus a wide range of other attractions including Face Painting, Tarot Reading and Egg and Spoon races for the younger attendees.

There was also a Dog Show featuring a special guest appearance from Runway - the labrador Guide Dog puppy that the Southend Airport Fundraising Committee sponsor – who was celebrating his first birthday.

All the money raised is going to local causes, including one close to the hearts of staff at Southend Airport. Terminal Manager Anne Syrett explains “We will be making a donation to the Chemotherapy Unit at Southend Hospital, in memory of Tina Lock, who worked in Passenger Services at the Airport and sadly lost her fight with cancer last year.”

She added “We would like to thank Rankins Cricket Club for making this event possible, as they kindly donated their facilities free of charge.”
