Specialist Transport Division

Stobart’s 200 strong specialist fleet comprises a variety of innovative and unusual units which operate across the UK, controlled by a dedicated team based at Carlisle.

The Company has long maintained a significant number of ‘Drawbars’; often referred to as ‘Drags’ within the industry. The 90 strong fleet of compact, high volume 44 tonne, curtainsided drawbars feature a semi-permanent trailer attachment, making them highly manoeuvrable and ideal for low weight, high volume loads and awkward access sites.
 

Stobart currently have over 50 Chipliner trailers. These roof-loaded curtainsided trailers are used for transporting wood chip for reprocessing into board and other products.

‘Walking Floors’ are highly specialised trailers which are also used by the International fleet as well as having extensive waste paper and other recycling applications. A Walking Floor trailer features a powered floor design that ‘walks’ the contents out of the rear, literally unloading itself.
