Making Savings

This example journey model shows that simply by achieving very realistic reductions in customer loading and tipping times, a saving of around 15% of the total charges for a delivery can be made. Cutting waste in the industry by effectively consolidating the deliveries of the Company’s shared customer base, cuts empty miles to the minimum - reducing costs and helping the environment.

Pricing structure and the opportunity to cut your transport costs...

Figures given in hours and minutes equate exactly to charge rates, so that a 15% saving in time results in a 15% reduction in charges.

A Loading time, Trafford Park, Manchester   Variable
1 hour 30 minutes   1h 30m
Time for more efficient loading 45 m
Here costs are substantially determined by the client. The clock is ticking whilst a Stobart vehicle is in a long queue waiting to be loaded. Put simply, if the truck's waiting an hour and a half, the charge will be twice what it is if the loading is completed in three quarters of an hour.

B Travel time, Manchester to Dartford   Fixed
6 hours 14 minutes 6h 14m 6h 14m
This cost is FIXED and is based on the average time taken for this journey including the 45 minute statutory drivers' break required under EU regulations. Any variation up or down in the time taken resulting from RTAs etc is at STOBART'S risk.

C Tipping time, Dartford, Kent   Variable
1 hour 30 minutes   1h 30m
Time for more efficient loading 45 m
Once again costs at this stage are largely in the customer's hands; if waiting can be reduced by prioritising Stobart vehicles or simply through improving the efficiency of the tipping process; then significant savings will be made.

D Non-productive time Potentially Variable
1 hour 9 minutes 1h 9m 1h 9m
Time for more efficient loading 45 m
Again, this is a fixed cost for the time taken to travel to the nearest reloading point, based on an average time taken over the preceding year for this journey. However, if the customer requires a collection at a closer loading point, they will see a reduction in the charge.
