Driver Training
Safety is NO accident! ... At Stobart Group, a SAFER operation is a more EFFICIENT operation.
Stobart has a long-standing and extremely successful history in delivering its own training programmes to help maximise safe working practices, communicate change in legislation and help its workforce achieve their full career potential.
At the core of the Company’s activities is Driver Training. On joining the business every driver attends an intensive two day driver induction course to ensure new personnel match up to the exceptionally high standards of service and quality that is expected of a Stobart Driver.
During their induction, along with a complete uniform and comprehensive PPE, Drivers are issued with a personal Driver Manual and pack containing essential information.
There are some 3,000 copies of the Driver Handbook currently in circulation, representing a huge investment in improving driver’s access to safety information. This innovative, benchmark publication is packed with important information ranging from customer location maps through to information on EU Driving Hours and even customs allowances; helping to maximise safe working, efficiency and awareness of clients’ special requirements.
As the Company continues to rapidly expand, numerous important issues arise; Stobart’s broad spectrum of major name clients frequently operate special collection and delivery protocols; new trailers come on-line which require extra formal training; and drivers must learn to operate the Company’s advanced in-cab technology correctly.
Stobart’s respected driver training school at Crick consists of 20 trainers and support staff. Seven trainers are DSA registered LGV instructors.
Stobart Group is currently active in training every one of its 2,500 drivers to NVQ Level 2 standard, backed by funding through the Learning and Skills Council’s ‘Train to Gain’ initiative.
